Hi all I would like some advice on a second hand yacht I have purchased please
I want to repaint hull and deck ive done all the preperation could anyone advise on if the deck or the hull is painted first please.
any advice would be appreciated

depending on the colour scheme im painting often dictates where i start , i think my micro magic was painted deck first , but its been done in three colours , each colour fades into the last / next and the pattern extends around the hull in an approximate 45 degree line . due to the scheme i paint my racing yachts in they take around two weeks just to paint !

If it's just two colour I paint the hull as I find it easier to mask the hull when
painting the deck.
If you are racing your IOM, remember each coat of paint adds weight to the hull.

a apply my paint with an airbrush , on the racing boats i omit using primer ,  then any names / decals and finish off with a couple of coats of laquer . im sure the microns im applying wont be adding much weight to my boats

if you are intending to race the IOM which will need a measurement certificate the inside of the hull must not be painted so the measurer can see it's construction.

If you are not sure about a colour scheme use a clear paint!
 
I did this after a row about the construction of a yacht "was not visible enough."

I'd paint lightest colour first, that means you'll cover any bleed through with the darker colour.
