I use chrome (no joining required) as my browser. I can't say I've noticed any marked speed improvement (20Meg broadband). Also it doesn't seem to like full screen iplayer etc so I nip back to explorer.

I use sware iron at home ( http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron.php ), its the same as google chrome, but with all the junk that reports back to google taken out, cant say as I have noticed any speed difference, but then I can get 80Mb/s on my BT infinity anyway.

I've used Chrome for a while now, tonnes better than Internet Explorer in my opinion. You don't have to sign up to it, I only have so I can get my Google calendar and bookmarks linked in!

They probably wanted you to join Chrome Plus, which is a totally different animal to Chrome.  Chrome is a program put out by Google, Chrome Plus is a sort of "community" thing to make it easier for Google to collect and sell your details.  Unless you are seriously into whatever teenage interests that it expedites, I would avoid it totally.
Because of the way that Chrome has bloated itself over the few years that it has been around, I am seriously considering dumping it in favour of the current IE, which, unusually for an MS product, seems to work faster than the opposition.  It certainly uses less resources.

Firefox here on Mac.
I do look around occasionally, tried Chrome, Tor (for those that are paranoid about being tracked..) and a few others.

Download and try other browsers, you may find one that suits you better than the others  :-))
