lots of Plans!
« on: August 16, 2013, 02:26:49 am »

Hello all,
Was hunting around for shipyard that have plans on there website and came across this place!
 http://wwwmacduffshipdesign.com/
Just go into designs and and go to the category you want and click on the boat you want to look at and the plans are there. Then i figured you could take them to a copying place and get them to upsize them to what scale you want. might want to email them and ask if it is ok to do that.

Given their terms of use (what is meant by derivative?) I would seek permission. You never know you might get better quality drawings!

The MacDuff shipyard closed this year with the redundancy of all the staff. I don't know if the design department still operates.  They did have some nice designs, various types of small ships.

Hi Dougal, I agree I asked for more details of an American tow boat and got 2 complete  sets of plans for 2 different boats.  That was some years ago now, but always worth a try.
I was surprised when Ron Dean got plans from Camper &  Nicholson, I had asked them and they were about £100 per sheet and I was only allowed to build one model.  Later Ron brought out Blue Leopard.  He let me sail it at an exhibition but I would rather have built my own perhaps with a rtr hull.

Their website is still up-and-running, so we can still hope for the best! O0

This was a full-size shipyard, not for models.  I don't know what size the plans are for real ships , they are not model plans but will be useful for accurate shape and general layout of the ships.
