Anyone watching the news this evening to see the Newhaven Severn searching for a missing  14 year old in such extreme conditions,will maybe realise  just why we support our RNLI Service and the brave men,yes HEROIC men,who do risk their all for others.I am very proud to support them in any way I can

My Son,who works on Lifeboats and very aware of the power of the sea,has just told me he went weather watching at a local beach today to see a bunch of 15 student types walk right up to the edge of the wave,suddenly a lunker came in and swept all of them into the water,Luckily they did quickly scramble back to the shore.My son shouted very politely "you silly litle boys" NOT!!

I was watching that clip, couldn't help admiring how well the lifeboat handled the waves. Shame to hear one of the crew was injured though.

I am  surprised that  only one crew member was injured. I would like to point out how well the Coxn and crew handled the lifeboat, to enable it to cope with the running seas.

Absolutely agree with all that's been said. We are very proud of our lifeboat and crew here at Newhaven, and always have been. That will no doubt be true of every lifeboat's home port across the country. And we shouldn't forget the skills of the Coastguard, whether in the helicopter or working on Newhaven's West Beach last night.


Not sure whether they've gone back out this morning yet, I'll have a look later on.

This just shows how brave these guys are when putting their own live on the line in such conditions in the hope that they can save the life of those is desperate needs. And maybe these news clips should be shown to the many up and down the country who moan about working conditions.
