Hi guys, thought I might throw up an old build, one of my models I built nearly 30 yrs ago, started it in 78 finished it in 84 in between trips to sea,its made to 1:16 scale of our 68' Timber trawler we built at the end of our street in Byron Bay N.S.W Australia, sorry about the quality of some or most of the photo's as didn't have good quality camera back then.
- Start of model with her bulkheads in position, made the keel deadwood ,hogstreak stemstep and stem out of what we decked the real boat with ,what we call Colonial Teak (yellowy colour hardwood, nice smell when cutting it) I cut the Stem Knee and stern Knee from cut off branchs (seasoned) off our Piecan nut tree.
- Decking made from Red ceder, from old window frames scavanged from the local tip (can't do that any more ) then cut into strips.
- Showing the hull and the bulwarks nearly completed, bulwark post from oregon the bulwarks planked with red ceder, the hull was strip planked with ply and then fiberglassed inside.
- Fitting the hatch combings and w-house base made from oregon (from old bed frames ,good tight grain ).
- Making the frame for the splash board around the top of the deck house.
- Cramping the ply around the curve of the splash board...
