Darksheer....that is an interesting anchor winch motor/servo..... O0

Car to share how the mod was achieved?...does it run 360 degrees +? ..how do you control it?.....

its a standard servo with some simple modifications
I tore one down and took pictures

ill explain each photo

ok here is a standard futaba digital servo that volunteered for the operation
pretty much any servo will work

first thing you do is remove the 4 screws off the bottom and take the lower and upper half of the servo apart

next you pull the final drive off the top of the servo this might be on tight if it has a bearing race on it just carefull work it back and forth and it will pop off
once you have the drive off you will notice a small tab near the bottom of the drive stem this has to be removed so you get 360 traverse once its removed refit the post to the servo and make sure it rotates freely without catching

once you ensure it rotates freely look at the bottom of the post you will see a small slot inside the gear this bit attaches to a pot inside the servo that stops the servo at certain positions  usually this slot is removeable and can be popped out with needle nose pliers if its not removeable you will need to drill it out making sure the pot does not rotate with it replaced

once you get to the point you need to plug the servo in and power up your system the servo will start spinning
use your hand dandy needle nose pliers to turn the pot that is under the final drive gear util the servo stops
NOTE: sometimes the servo is already at true neutral so you dont need to turn anything basically if it stops on its own after a second dont touch anything   once it stops move the stick on the remote back and forth and you should see the gears move
at this point put the servo back together and you have a unlimited proportonal servo to use for anything you want
these servo's also make great motors and speed controls for small scale models like the lindberg coastguard tugs plastic kits
my lindberg diesel tug model is powered by a servo and i get 6+ hour runs off the reciever batteries which power everything

hope this helped

PS forum owner   if this needs to get moved to a how to section or something please feel free to move it
and apologies if this is in the wrong section

A very handy tip which is useful.

As an addition, it's a good idea to drop hot candle wax on the pot to stop it turning with vibration.  (soft enough to alter it if needed)

If you want to watch in greater detail there are lots of videos on youtube on how to make servo's 360 degree rotation.

No, they don't.
The Harbor Models unit has several different voltage outputs from a 12v input (3, 4.8, 6 and 12), all fed by fan-cooled linear voltage regulators. All outputs are via circuit breakers. It is quite a bulky affair and costs a hundred and twenty bucks in the US. With shipping and VAT you'd be looking at maybe a hundred and seventy quid in the UK. ACTion's power D/Bs are all similar in that they are fused and the output terminals are all at the same voltage as the input, with the exception of the 5v flylead to feed power to the receiver. You'd get six of them and change from £170.

Sorry! Forgot the currency conversion! Make that about £105 in the UK.

here is a photo of my mobile sitting beside the power panel  might give you a better view of its actual size

its basically the same dimensions as 3 mobiles stacked on top of each other
which in larger boats is almost nothing

the harbor models sound module is tiny about the size of a 20 pack of cigarettes but is insanely loud

things are coming together fast now I should have her in the water finished when the pond thaws in the next few weeks
everything is done its just a case of adding all the fittings and finishing the front deck off leaving that till last so its easier to get inside the hull if i need to change something

does anyone know where i can get modern ship decal's markings in 1/48th 1/50th in either canadian or british navy

loads more to add today
she went in the water on sunday and it worked out well had a few small snags but over all very happy with the performance

fried the bow thruster speed control "was about 6 years old" that will teach me to recycle old parts
Y splitter to fire monitors cracked wide open "water stayed inside the boat instead of going out "
rear deck leaks like a sieve " going to seal the deck down with silicone  people are right this is a very wet boat over the rear cargo deck "
adding the final detail over the next few weeks and once the weapons arrive she will be finished

enjoy the videos and pictures

new rear deck and loading ramp finished

new pusher bow finished and bumpers installed

didnt like the small crane that came with the kit so i built and added a larger more funtional one with a longer reach

bow detail being added

flood lights on the rear cargo deck

bow work lights

overall view

 ok2

Why I    ? {-)

I find this very clean kit, that changes us the one that we saw recently. There are things which surprise me as the accommodation of the high speaker or the survivals  orange but it is very well made and the paint is attractive  :-)) :-)) :-))
