Well, absolutely amazing :-))

John Hurt was brilliant, shows what a fantastic actor he is.
Was very happy to see all the Doctors together to save their planet, and the sneak preview of the 13th Doctor was enough to get you interested for next year!
The references throughout the story were very good, the 4th Doctors scarf, the Schools governor was Ian Chesterton (the first companion), using each other's words from earlier stories, and plenty of others. Tom Baker looked like he enjoyed himself.
The opening credits was a brilliant idea using the original version
Hope the Christmas special is as good.

Did it live up to the hype?  Not sure but very enjoyable and at least a bit of an oasis in the desert of the average Saturday nights entertain.

The only real criticism IMHO is I would still question whether Billie Piper is an 'actress'?  She may be many things but an actress she isn't.

Must admit, she was better this time compared to when she was a companion.

Just watched it again on BBC iPlayer to see what I missed from the first viewing! :}

Yes she has perfected her only two expressions.  The widening doe'y eyes and the half trout pout. It is not impossible she is the daughter of Nicholas Cage and the sister of Keannu Reeves.

Actress or not I think she played her part very well and do think it lived up to the hype..  Glad to see TB make an appearance, Shame Eccleston did not.

Yes shame Eccleston didn't but good that Catherine Tate didn't.

I really enjoyed it, and I too loved all the little references to the past.

Who spotted the green metal lampshade in an overhead shot? That lampshade was one of the favourite items of Delia Derbyshire, of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and was used to create many a sound found in the original series.

Unfortunately for some reason Eccleston doesn't want anything to do with Doctor Who in any way. :((
Not long now until the Christmas special!  :-))

On another note, did anyone else spot the amount of info that UNIT had gathered about the Doctor's past, wonder what's going on there? Do they know something that we don't? Should be interesting to see how that turns out, especially if you know your classic Who regarding the Valeyard storyline.

Struck me that they were planting a few seeds here and there to give them options for future plot lines that they can trace back to the special.  Sort of hedging all future bets for spin offs etc.

Best part for me was my 9yo sitting with me loving every minute, we are also going to see it in the cinemas in 3d on Wednesday evening.

Thank heavens for that.  F1 is in a mess thanks to him.  %)

Tee Hee  {-)   {-)   {-)   Didn't know Bernie was a former Doctor !

After watching the 50th programme I have just bought the official BBC video box set "The Beginning".
The first three series with William Hartnell.  Excellent.  Defines the baselines for all that came afterwards
