How much would it cost now...webtool
« on: December 01, 2013, 03:43:59 am »

I just found this historic inflation caluculator

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-1633409/Historic-inflation-calculator-value-money-changed-1900.html

Fun to look back, my Dad's first house was 3300 pounds in 1964, that would be 57 000 today equivalent.
An almost identical property in the same village today is for sale for 280 000.

An E-type Jag was 2097 pounds in 1961, that would be just under 40 grand today.

And if you want to feel sick, here is a link to petrol prices. http://www.theaa.com/public_affairs/reports/Petrol_Prices_1896_todate_gallons.pdf
However, be aware that the figures for older dates are the cost of petrol in old pennies (not new P, not l.s.d.)

ahh, but for petrol prices.............in 1967 when I first started motor cycling a gallon of petrol was 6s 8d (34p equiv) and for exactly the same price you could buy an LP 33rpm vinyl record.

Nowadays, a CD equiv costs between £10 - 15 quid for a similar recording..............so petrol in real terms ain't as dear now as it was then, either that or music is the bigger rip off?? {:-{ {:-{ {:-{ {:-{

Women are inflation proof. They have always cost more than I wanted to spend.

So exactly how many women have you bought, did you have to keep the receipts and what was the part exchange like?

Back in the late 80s, I spent £200 on a 500kb RAM upgrade for my Commodore Amiga.  :-))

...I can now buy 40000 times more memory for a tenth of the price.  <:( <:( <:(
