Thanks a lot Mark.

I used normal masking tape to masl windowns etc from 3M (BTW I only buy 3M masking tape). Not ideal for the stripe but it came out ok. Had to repaint some of the imperfections.
Masking tape is not as good as the small special tape used to spraypaint cars ets .... but the glue from the professional small masking tape damages the paint a lot (it did on the CM).
I did not clear coat the tape. Nothing goes through it.

Thanks for that Danielle, i use 3m as well, cheep gives a cheep job, try tamiya tape for the fine lines, it does compound curves and does not damage the underlying paint, but it is expensive.

Thanks a lot my friends!!!

Today I added the rudder to its shaft/sprocket combination.
Fixed the hull to my small wheeled workcabinet.
In the end I did a cardboard deck to design where what equipment will go. As you know I do not have plans of the original deck attangements.

That is a clever idea for a cradle Danielle. I it a general purpose working cradle or the one that the Nuova will always have?

Its just a temporary one .... I will make a nicer one ... something like you see when the boat is out of the water for refurbishment/new color etc.

Hullo Danielle....I see you have again used that link chain & plastic sprockets for the rudder drive again......I think it is a great solution :-))

With the 1:1 ratio.....your Hitec HS325HB servo could throw the substantial rudder from full hard over 110 degrees in ~~0.4 seconds....and for realistic operation you need a steady hand so no not to provide unrealistic rudder movement. From this it appears you have two options that you could consider

1. Increase the diameter of the driven sprocket  to provide ~~ 3:1 reduction ratio [sufficient space appears for this diameter] however this would still provide  a rudder movement of ~~ 1.2 seconds......

2. The second option could be to install an ACTion P96 servo morph.......these are excellent devices and their reputation speaks volumes for their functionality......you could increase the rudder throw from 110 degrees to ~~ 175 degrees or so, and set the rudder moment speed to a realistic scale

Hi Derek ... you're right. I'll leave it as it is .... did it the same way with the Cornelia Marie. Never had any problems with it. You have to steer gently and everything is fine!

More work done ....

Dummy placement of the things ... I can see the net winch, exhaust pipes, staircase to lower/upper deck.

Pump with connected hoses to the bow truster ...

Deck planking .... first layer .... second one will be nicer ...

A lot of things done the last two days ... thank god its friday and I will not work til monday ...

Fitted the Controllers ... left one for the prop motor and right one for the bow truster pump.

Finished the deck ... which will be covered with nice wood later ... what kind of wood would you suggest to buy for this job. The original has greyish/brown color and was clearcoated once.

I also started with the living quarters and stairs to the upper deck ...

Us model ship builders don't use enough chain in our builds (apart from visual anchor chains etc). It is good to see you using some on your rudder system.

Re Nice decking, have a look at what that exceptionally skilled Australian has done on his fishing boats, it is usually mouthwateringly good.

I like the chain for the rudder ... no fiddling and adjusting ...
Decking isn't the final one ... I will cover everything with some smaller and shorter planks ...

Amen Ray, that is one great project. I do like these touches of detail. I hope we will be able to see them when the ship is complete?
