Thanks a lot Ned!  :-))

Railing on the bow was made today ... came out nicely!

Finished ...

Two small details added. Don't know how to call them ... profiles to prevent water dropping into the stairwell and to the left and right of the deck.

Then I repainted the interior of the wheelhouse. Its iron oxide red. I will add the wood grain by drybrush technique. Then it will look allright!

Hi Danielle. Stair coaming springs to mind, I mean logically it is a coaming of sorts, just a shallow one.

Aw, she's a neauty. I like the realistic way you are using baulks of timber to prop stuff up:O)

Another detail added at the end of the deck ... then some white and blue color on deck ... nearly finished it is!

Drilled all the holes for the railingposts.

The upper deck ready for the varnish.

And the boat from the top ...

I like the railing at the bow!

You went all 'Yoda' there Danielle! The railing on the bow is very neat. Did you do them from plastic or metal? If the former then extra kudos to you as plastic can be a nuisance especially when under tension.

The plan was to make it with copper wire but in the end I used ABS profiles. Its not as sturdy as a copper one but it does not break easely. I did the same with the Cornelia Marie. But the Cornelia Marie can't be lifted and handled as good as the N. Loredana.

Last brushes of blue paint and varnish on the upper deck (sorry no pic).
Then off I went with the railing.

Left side done ....

Right side done as well!

The next days will be spent with adding the nex two rows of the railing.

I am happy with the look of it.

I must say I should keep her for myself! There is no other fishtrawler in the world with such elegant lines as the the ones made by the Cantiere Navale Ippolito in italy!

Though i like the shape of most fishing vessels because of their squat and tubby shapes, the Nuova is another thing altogether, and like mentioned before, they manage to combine the lines of a cabin cruiser with that of a trawler.

Gorgeous wirk Danielle. I can understand your retisence to part with her after all your hard work. Is it going far away from you?

It will go to Rimini in Italy. To the son of the ex-owner.
I am not sure if I would build another one. There is a big access problem with the long upper deck ....  {:-{
Maybe I would build the hull again but leaving the deck with the netwinch at the open like they have on trawlers in sicily. It would be an option.

Last working day .... time to make the second row of the railing.
First I made a little helper ....

In use .... rather good thing even if some of the profiles where welded with aceton in place without the help of it.

A part of the third row where made just to show you how it will look in the end.

And a pic of todays work ....

Well now, what a simple, yet brilliant idea that is - it kind of looks like a forklift holding the bar steady.

Did you make another "helper" for the lower bar as well ?

Regards,

Ray.

Mark, actually it went rather well without to much hassle. Must have had a good day!  ok2

New week other details to be made .... the life raft canisters and its holder ....
Didn't have a 20mm rod but 1/2 ones ... so glued them together which gave me a line in half to put additional details on it.

The holder is made of ABS cut in half.

All parts before glueing together.

Check if everything is OK.

Some details added.

More details added ....

Just slapped some color on it ... will sand it down tomorrow.

And put it on the deck of the N. Loredana.

Some more color on the roof of the wheelhouse and the liferafts...

Started to make some details in the wheelhouse.

An italian modelling friend made these nice labels for the liverafts.

Wonderful detail! And wait! There's a special detail I have to show you after the next picture.

The label has the right name on it!!!!

Finished the wheelhouse electronics yesterday evening ....

Today its time to finish with the color of the hull .... first I used the superb masking tape from Tamiya and then a normal masking tape from the DIY shop. I always use the Tamiya masking tape as I slap a lot of color on the hull and even after 4-5 times you can remove it without problems.

2 times white color ...

Another 2-3x and FINISHED!!!

After a couple of hours I varnished the hull down to the yellow line.

Mike I think he knows MM ....  ok2

Today story has the title: THE TWO DOLPHINS!

Yes there are two dolphins on the exhaust stack.

I wasn't sure how to fabricate them. First I printed them in the right size on paper.  Then I glued the paper on a piece of 1mm ABS sheet. First I tried to cut it out with a knife (dolphin to the right) and ended up in using my Proxxon bandsaw (the left one)! Worked out very well and everything was ready for sanding in under 6 minutes ....

The result is rather nice ....

Looks ok on the exhaust stack.

Ready for paint!

Now the upper deck is 99% finished.
