hen long turret mechanisms on WARSHIPS?
« on: December 18, 2013, 01:29:56 am »

Have any warship modellers tried using the mechanism from a Hen Long Tank turret,to control a warship turret? I know the tanks are 1/16Th scale, but I am sure they could be adapted for my 1/96Th battleship? the tank turret rotates, raises the one barrell, fires airsoft 6mm pellets and has smoke and sounds.Although I realise the sounds are not technically correct,I just wondered if it could be easily used?
Thanks,

Only if you use the whole heng long RX18 unit I think. I looked into using the infra-red battle systems from tanks to have some fun with a few boats but to use the heng long system meant I'd have to use the whole system and have twin prop with tank style steering. The other units that could utilise standard boat parts were too expensive.

I have had a look on  flea bay this evening, and there seems to be dozens of parts available, like a barrel raising motor,a turret turner,a turret ring even the airsoft mechanism They all seem to be under a tenner,so I thought if I knew what was needed,I may be able to get two out of my 4 turrets working perhaps? I have 4 main propulsion motors (renault car heater motors) running 4 props, and a full size standard car battery for power so no worries there!
Main problem is I havent a clue how to utilise the hen long parts!

I'm sure all the individual parts can be made to work on their own, but if your looking for an easy way of doing it then the heng long control box, I think is the RX-18, does all the controls for the turret and gun movement. But the RX-18 only works with the heng long transmitter.
