2014 The New Season Who is your money on??
« on: December 22, 2013, 06:14:30 PM »

Hi Folks

This topic for those interested is intended to be half serious, half fun. Dare you predict pre-2014 season any members that you think will win their respective classes in 2014? Or predict those that you think will end up in the top 3 (podium) places?

If you want to join in on this topic please include reasons for your prediction. We can always keep this topic running throughout the season to see if things change as the results come in as it should be fun.

For my part I am going to name one person that my money is on to win the Cat Class T2 for 2014. It is Garry Dickson. My reasoning is that he won the 2013 championship with a modified ready to run boat. He only ever once let me drive it and it was a bag of poo to drive! How he got that round the course as he did consistently in 2013 I will never know!  :o With his new build to start soon, I think he will be much better placed to compete with the other boats in this very fast and exciting class.

Who is your money on?

Craig :-)) %)

Hi Craig.

Thanks for the compliment and your confidence in my cat class!

However, I suspect money will be on other new builds, I know of a few and I think I will wait until eyeing up the completion for the new season until I see some new boats at the lakeside next year. There are some belters I am advised................

For sure, I think 2014 will be an even better year than 2013 in terms of the competition, so cant wait to get the boats wet again.

Also hope some new members coming through will add a lot to the competition and enjoyment.

Hi Garry
That was a very diplomatic reply to the topic :-)

Don't be shy Garry ....

Come on folks, who is your money on? The purpose of my topic is to have a bit of fun and banter. On the cat class  I think that Mark Wild will do well in 2014. That is because the Wild side is as it says on the tin... Wild! And expect the unexpected from Mark! %)

I think the wise money will be on Malcolm Pratt. He is a seasoned race professional. Won the d class in 2012, won the b class in 2013. Both wins were strategically planned to perfection.

Also money on Kurt with amazingly quick and exciting boats!

And Mark wild! Again very quick boats with non conventional engines!

And newcomers! Jack from mill pond?

I could name more, but rest assured, 2014 should be the best racing ever!

Other likely winners are of course the two juniors. They both had fantastic seasons, exhibited driving standards well above their years and will be hungry for more enjoyment and success next year.

Think the lady racers will also do well next year.

I wouldn't like to bet on which junior member will do best in 2014. I reckon it could be close. And if it is anything like 2013 as Mark said, us oldies might have to watch out!

Well having put my money on you for the cat gas class, that I assume includes a Mill Pond Models tuned zenoah? ;)

In the d class that in 2013 was so competitive boats and driver wise and engine choice also. It included so many furiously fast races. The d class for 2014 is one that I  would not like to predict.

I reckon that consistency in finishing as many races as possible will especially apply in the d class.

Fascinating stuff I think :-))

Ignoring the threads that have mentioned multiple names and those that have said "should do well", I think there are only two specific predictions of winners so far....> :}

Garry Dickson money on to win Cat Class 2 (from Craig)
Mark Wild money on also for Cat Class 2 (from Luke)

Garry and Mark, no pressure there of course :D

Forgive me if I have misinterpreted any of your comments :-X
