I've just converted one, It's fairly easy if you have the right gear and have a slight clue of what your doing! The motor pods drop out easy enough, I just fitted a single prop on mine. As for the electronics, I replaced them with a propper speed controller, receiver and a servo for a rudder.
Trust me, If I can do it, anyone can!
The only other thing I can suggest is if you have some sort of voltage tester, that can read low voltages (some don't read less than 12v accurately), is that you remove the deck (just a couple of screws under the rubber bungs) and check your getting voltage coming out of the battery, and from the circuit board out to the motors, when you press the buttons on the controller of course!
