Hi,

I am hoping that someone can help me with this.


I bought a RC Severn Class lifeboat 2.4G for my son for Xmas; I tested that it was working prior to wrapping alas on Xmas morning the boat didn't work. The control appears to be working as it lights up when used, but there is no response from the propellers although there is a lot of heat from the batteries when I try to get it running.

I am in the process of sending it back and getting a refund, but if there is a way that I can get the boat running I would rather have that.

Is there any way that I can renovate to get it working, using the boat body but replacing the RC system with proper gear to move the thing and what sort of cost would be involved?

Did you leave the boats battery switched on when you wrapped it up?.

don't these motors only  work when there in water ?
thought that's there safety mechanism so kids cant catch fingers try it in the bath
you can take them apart I converted mine to brushless everything motor esc prop shaft etc for less than £40

also disconnect battery and turn props check not stuck or something cought around them just a thought

I did try a new set of batteries which also didn't work.

And the boats propellers worked out of water pre Xmas so I'm presuming that they would work again?

Also, not being experienced at these things would the conversion of the boat need experience and skill (as well as time) or is it pretty straight forward?

dont know if it makes a difference as mine worked out the box but
did you try the binding procedure in the instructions?

I've just converted one, It's fairly easy if you have the right gear and have a slight clue of what your doing! The motor pods drop out easy enough, I just fitted a single prop on mine. As for the electronics, I replaced them with a propper speed controller, receiver and a servo for a rudder.


Trust me, If I can do it, anyone can!


The only other thing I can suggest is if you have some sort of voltage tester, that can read low voltages (some don't read less than 12v accurately), is that you remove the deck (just a couple of screws under the rubber bungs) and check your getting voltage coming out of the battery, and from the circuit board out to the motors, when you press the buttons on the controller of course!
