Hi,

That is why I always keep a junk box of previous plastic kits.

It's amazing what comes in useful.

Hi,

My 2 Quad Vickers arrived yesterday.

Very intricate work.

Watch the end of the barrels, I already broke a couple off. A minute with the tweezers and superglue fixed the problem.

How do I wash them without more breakages?

Regards

The best an simplest way of cleaning that I have found also gives the best results is using the wife's ultrasonic jewellery cleaner with some soapy warm water and then a second time with clean warm water. I have not broken anything using this method of cleaning.

Do you have drawings?

I am already working on some pulleys.

Good idea and  works for other small objects that will also  fit in the cleaner

Pulleys?? I presume you mean "Blocks"

A Hazemayor (sp)  mount would also come in handy.

Hi Marmoi:   I have just spotted on the Shapeways web site Nordenfelt 1" 4-Barrelled Machine Gun in 1:64 Scale.
Is that really a set of six, or each ?   I need a set of 6 for my HMS Polyphemus. Just want to check before ordering.

That will save me a lot of work fabricating these, especially as it is an unusual scale.

PS  Any other 1/64 parts suitable for this ship?

Hi bob,

The 1/64th scale Nordenfelt's Mark has modelled, are the 5 barrel version, he kindly did them for my Polyphemus in the later 1894 refit version.
Mark has also done me, the quick firing Hotchkiss guns and their mountings. :-))
I have them on order, from shapeways, so will let you know what they are like, when they drop through the letter box!

Hi Ian.  My question was is that item really a set of six, or each.  My plans show four barrelled, but I can modify them.

Hi Bob,

Yes, they are in sets of six weapons. I am sure if you ask marmoi (mark) he will rescale the four barrel variant and list them for you, on shapeways.
Just drop him a pm, or I am sure he will reply to this thread anyway.....he is a very amiable chap, and produces the best quality 3d work I have seen so far!!

You can cut the list down on the shop by selecting the shop section you want in the list on the left of the shop screen.

How about going to the other extreme and doing the Hotchkiss 3 Pound gun in 1:12 scale to suit the commercially available 50" Picket Boat hull ? I believe the same hull but in a smaller scale is also available from Kingston Mouldings and Deans so there might be an opportunity to sell them in more than one size. Cheers, Ian

It could be done Ian, but the problem with scaling these models up to 1:12 would be that the cost would be very high as it is a 3 dimensional scaling up in volume.

I have just set up a kit on the shop for upgrading the Chydshall steam picket model to a fully armed ship borne torpedo boat in 1:48 if you are looking for something a little different.

Sounds the way to go. I found these on fleabay. Cynical me thinks the first is too cheap. Do any of these resemble what you use?

A giant thumbs up for Shapeways.com  :-))

I ordered a special One Off design on Wednesday 15th, and today (18th) I am notified it has been shipped.
If that is not awesome response then I don't know what is.   O0

For Bob K

Here in Oz we get used to waiting for parcels from overseas.

However Shapeways really showed what can be done.

Just watch the parcel tracking, it showed me when it was delivered to the Post Office.

My quads took about 6 days from order to receipt. :-))
Now crossing fingers that the saluting guns get here by Friday in time for Saturday's show at Rathmines.

It is the Catalina Festival and the cat is doing a fly past along with other oldies. Nice people up there are building a sandbag and tarp pond for us to run in, 20 x 20 metres.
