Certainly was another part of the war that's not really all that spoken of, I had heard of it but didn't realise it was that bad.

I also didn't realise ships could do what Clarkson described as handbrake turns!

Hi,

I watched it the other night, I think our Admiralty lost the plot on that one!
Probably why we haven't been shown the details of the incident until now.

It was eye opening, I read a novel about it sometime ago.

The harshness of the Arctic is not to be taken lightly. Especially when they were ill-equipped.

With regards to a hand-brake turn, quite an experience on a destroyer, we use to do them on sea trials during work ups, shudders the whole ship though, a bit never wracking if you're down in the boiler room.

I didn't see the programme but there have been plenty of books about it over the years, it hasn't been kept secret.

It was a good programme.
One of Mr Clarkson's better efforts.

Not one of the best episodes in our naval history  and even today a sensitive  issue  but  this was a well researched  and a  well presented  documentary  ,  well done to Mr Clarkson.   Some  of the issues discussed  can be seen in the Western Approaches Museum Battle of the Atlantic command bunker  at  Liverpool and at the Battle of the Atlantic gallery Merseyside Maritime Museum .
