The old cat was diabetic, and we had tiny hypodermic syringes for his insulin injections. The plunger was topped by a tiny rubber plug, about 3mm diameter, with a central hole where it clipped on to the plunger. Disassembling some of these after use I kept several of these rubber plugs, as they looked "useful". Recently I needed something to slip over a cf 2.5mm tube, to locate it in a brass ring, and after thinking about it for a few days I suddenly thought of these, and more amazingly, found the safe place I'd put them in!
I had thought about binning them about a month ago, but the hoarding instinct prevailed. Now I will, subject to testing, be able to rig my schooner as planned.
