Cabin Doors
« on: January 13, 2014, 08:53:16 am »

Hi,

Any information on cabin doors 30mm x 15mm?

It is an odd size but is the closest to 1/72 scale.

Hi there, just a small point, 30mm by 15mm at 1/72 is a door over 2.1m by 1m that's a large door?
Cheers Chris.

Hi Chris,

That's true.

I've just measured a door and its 2.032 meters by 0.762 meter.

The 1/72 scale figure is 25mm tall so I thought add a bit to walk through and arrived at 30mm.

That door at 1/72 should be
28.2 x 10.6 mm
Your figure at 25mm would be 1800mm high

Hi vnkiwi,

So that would be close to 5 Foot 9 inches.

That's around a good average height.

I might have to make them or I might try one of those new 3D Printer shops that are starting to open.

Hi vnkiwi,

Its for a converted ferry in WW2 so it would be a plain door with handles on right and some with handles on the left as there are double doors involved.

all you really need is some handles.
The rest is just a piece of thin ply.
How about frames.
Doors on boats are proper doors usually, not the cardboard and bit of ply like house doors.
That era they would have been built from solid wood, assuming a ferry, off say the size of the old Sydney ferries or old Auckland ferries.
Something different if its a cross-channel English ferry.
Some where panelled, and some had glass upper panels.
Shouldn't be hard to makeup at 1/72nd
cheers
