Web Browsers
« on: January 18, 2014, 01:19:41 pm »

Hello,

After many, many years, I have changed my Web Browser from Internet Explorer, to Google Chrome.

Explorer was giving many problems, updating it seemed to mend some, but give others.
So, rather reluctantly, I decided to give Chrome a try.

Seems to be faster to act than Explorer, at the moment is giving no problems at all !.
Hope everything stays as is !.

Any advice on whether this is likely to be the case, or will it change ?.

Which Browser is the best ?.

I've been using Chrome for about 6 months after trouble with IE. No problems except its parental guidance lock on iplayer and can't get iplayer up to full screen [but then haven't tried too hard]

I use Sware Iron - basically its Chrome without all the bits that report your browser use back to google, works very well for me.

Firefox here.

Used Explorer than changed to Chrome in its early days but didn't like it albeit it has probably evolved by now.

Chrome for me too here and at work. I used to use Firefox but found it was getting a bit bloated with plug ins Etc. and it seemed to be slowing it down.
Chrome sorted everything out for me and it looks and works great.

I've used Chrome for several years now with no great problems. There have been the odd 'old' websites in the past that would only work with IE but most are fine these days.
It is sometimes a bit sluggish to get going, but I have realised that this is because it is syncing my bookmarks and browsing history with my other devices (I use it across two PCs and two Android portables). I could turn that off, but it's very useful - in fact another reason I use Chrome - so I'll live with a few seconds delay on first boot.

I also keep IE and Firefox loaded on the main PC for the odd occasion Chrome won't do.

I use Chrome - have for a few years. Occasionally it has problems with a site, but very rarely. There was an issue with eBay recently but it was fixed in about 24 hours. The new IE looks quite good but I've got used to Chrome so will not switch.

Another vote for Chrome here, I use it on my laptop , phone and tablet. Swapped to chrome years ago because IE was getting worse, switched to chrome and it was like lightning!

Using Firefox the now only problem is I can't copy and paste into the reply box on Mayhem of Hotmail with it.

I then switch back to I.E. and do the C & P.  Another thing with I.E. I don't see my signature the R.N.L.I. logo just the little X box for the link to the site. I do with Firefox. The other Martin says my browser has something disabled have checked can't see any thing. Same with my sister's computer no logo on I.E. 11

I think this problem has happened when I updated to I.E. 11

Been on the Computer helps sites with not much success.

I've been using OPERA for years.
It's my preferred browser for my PC,  Tablet and Phone.
On the PC I love it's 'back'  command,  just hold right-click and swish the mouse to the left.

Hi,

I tried Chrome but could not get the antivirus and password to work.

Downloaded Firefox and it did it all itself.

CTRL V will allow you to paste into the reply box on mayhem using Firefox, I run Linux so I.E. is not an option ( not that i would use it anyway ), my preferred browser is Firefox with "ghostery" and "wot" add ons lnstalled .

Hello,

Been using a Browser called "Iron" for a few days, seems to be OK.
It is based on Google Chrome, but, it is "Open Source"  and has not got all the Google spying and reporting bits that Chrome has.
I had the feeling that every key press was being watched by Google !!.

Download from  www.srware.net

Will report any thing not liked when its been running for a while.

Thats the one I run too, I swapped from firefox because with half a dozen tabs open I kept running out of memory, I have been running it for about a year now, and have no problems.
