Mounting the ESC ?????
« on: January 21, 2014, 10:40:58 pm »

I have spent the evening starting the layout of my Ulises Tug........... For quite a big boat (830mm Long) there isn't a lot of room in the two compartments ........ Forward I have room for a 6v Lead Acid Battery and Receiver, no problem. In the aft compartment I have the motor and the rudders servo on a bracket to the Starboard Side and just forward of the motor .......... I'll have the rudder operated on a short run of Bowden Cable....... I have a question about positioning the ESC. I have a Mtroniks Marine 25 ...... I'm hoping I can mount it on the port side directly opposite the rudder servo (on it's side on a plate / bracket close to the hull side) ....... In the second photo where I've propped the blue Robbe card ........ Is that going to be too close to the motor ???? that will cause any kind of interference ?????

The closer the better - keep the cable runs as short as possible. With the Mtroniks it is important not to remove the connectors if you want to preserve your warranty  :-))

Agreed but don't go over-the-top.
Neat and tidy and you should be OK.   :-))

I often mount the Mtroniks controller on the inside of the boat using sticky backed velcro. They can then be easily removed and reset if necessary. I used to worry about heat dissipation but it has never been a problem and make sure your motor is properly suppressed. Cheers Graham

Total POPYCOCK as far as changing the connectors regarding Warranty claims. They can not dictate what connectors we use

I've put a Plywood panel in to mount the ESC ....... and the Velcro Idea is already covered ......... We have 1" wide Self Adhesive Velcro at work  :-))

Hi Dave .......... The ESC has a Male Tamiya Connector for the Battery. So I have a female with tails for soldering to the battery tabs........ And female bullet connectors for the motor..... So I'll solder a couple of tails on the motor with Male Bullets...... Job Done.

........ and I noted from another of your posts about "Easy Lite Filler" ......... I picked up a tin from Halfords. So I'll attack the planked hull at the weekend with it.
