I've passed the SV 1000 on to my lad, as he'll get more fun out of it than I will, and today collected my retirement present to myself  - a new Enfield 350. I've rediscovered the fun of motorcycling, and giggled for 4 hours all the way home.

Bought an Enfield 350 and started giggling, both obvious signs of insanity setting in!!

No BB it was probably the effect of low frequency vibrations on a smile while riding! Have you noticed that when
parked up and ticking over a traction engine has a rythmic wobble? My big Guzzi used to do the same thing at
traffic lights, whatever turns you on.

"setting in"? No, I've been positively certifiable for years - just keeping one step ahead of the men in white coats. And even SWMBO thinks the RE is a "sweet little thing". Anyway, if people can ride Harleys......

42yrs keeping the sky at the top and the road at the bottom. Machines presently in use are AprilliaSL1000 (Falco) and a 1929 Dollar. The Dollar is thought to be the only one in the U.K.
Made more mates riding bikes than any other persuit..........Aye and lost a few good guys too, usually to Volvos and the like. :D

After renting a Harley on trip to the states a few years ago. I fancied a big bike but didn't Fancy the dental bills associated with owning a Harley and having my fillings vibrated loose.  :(  So I decided on a Honda Goldwing ( silky smooth). Not one of the new ones with sat nav and airbags, but a 1989 1500 model. A little difficult to transport my models though  :)

I have a triumph 955 i sprint ST which keeps me amused when not boating. Years ago I had honda 500 twin which I used to strap my boat across the back. Unfortunately being used to parking it between my Dads car and the fence, I forgot about the boat on the back----result bent rudder, prop shaft and shorting of the front. Oh and a scratch down the nearside of the car, loss of wing mirror and one very unhappy pappy (and loss of all home style priviliges)

Winger, I was referring to your  Harley (twin) and my Velo (Single)  When I was dragged back onto two wheeled
masochism after a long layoff, ( about 20 years ) i used to alternate between a CX500, when son went back to
sea and my Guzzi LEE MANS. When I was riding his I used to think, 'why isn't mine as comfortable as this'? and when
I was riding  mine I used to think ' Cos mines so bl3ddy fast' - Enjoyed it despite spinal damage.

The 350 with the really sporty 6.5 to 1 CR kicks over dead easy, honest. AND I can start it with my left foot on the ground - with the Huntmaster I had to balance the bike with my left foot on the pavement, put my right foot on the ks, leap in the air and come down with all my weight on my right foot and when I'd kicked it over get both feet back on the ground before the bike fell over. (you can get a 500 classic with an electric foot!) The trouble with alll these modern bikes is that they just go whoosh! - especially the fours. I rode up to Glasgow on my old commuting route last week and saw 3 lochs by the side of the road that I'd never noticed before.

When lad got me re-riding after a 20 year lay off he bought an MZ 250/2, clever East German b4st4rds had put the
kick start on the wrong side of the bike. Also found Japanese had reversed brakes and gearchange. I thought it was
US the had the Empire! >>:-( >>:-(

I used to own a BSA M20 (500 single, sidevalve)  and followed it up with an M21 (600 single, sidevalve). Living at that time in Scotland, the winters were very severe but it was no problem for these old magneto sparked one lungers as they would fire up at the first kick. The BIG problem was when they were hot and anyone who has owned any of these machines will know that you had to get to know your own engine's characteristics.... no-one else could start the ruddy things except the owner! It wasn't the first time I had been asked by the MOT inspector to start the bike as he had become exhausted trying. One bloke even told me he had waited till it cooled down before he got it going.
Ruddy things weighed a ton but were unstoppable. I had a chair on the M21 and actually towed my mates knackered Ford popular home with it one day.

Interesting thread on motocycles. You can add my name to the list with an 83 Goldwing Aspencade. Old, but a great reliable bike. My longest trip to date? Across the US via old Route 66, up the Pacific coats to Vancouver and back across Canada to Toronot, the starting point. Lots to see along the way.

Yup, the price doesn't surpirise me. I've seen Rapides going for $30k plus on ebay, so an HRD like that has to be well up there. We have a Vincent club in our area and they show their bikes at the big local bike shows. Never had a chance to ride one, but lookking at the engineering close up I think, for their time, they're amazing bikes.
Congradulations on being able to get one. Are you going to ride it or store as a collectable?
