WHAT A STUNNER OF A BIRD!!!
« on: February 14, 2014, 08:07:27 pm »

Thought that would get you all looking.....saw this bird whilst I was driving over Cockerham sands this morning, just south of Lancaster on Morecambe bay.......it looks like an Egret but am not a bird watcher unless they have an inside leg of around 30" and a figure of 36 24 34.......so can anyone identify it, and is it a native bird or one blown in on the wind..............it was alone with no others of the same around.........never seen one before.

We have a couple of egrets come to our lake for a spot of spear fishing now and then. They always pick the same spots at the edge as if they knew the best places

With those feet I don't think they will swim that well and the lake is for sure too deep for it to wade  {:-{

Many of the ones we get here are cattle egrets, they follow grazing cattle and pick up insects disturbed by the cattle.
