I like to think that a lot of people are beavering away in the workshop, getting the next project ready for a build log, well I have, though it wont be a build log - too embarrassed with the way I built it.

Also trying to figure out how to upgrade this pc with a new OS (win7) and a smaller than anticipated fresh hard drive - DOH.

They could, like me, have gone back to work - after retiring last year I now find that I have more work (paid, not a lot, but paid) than ever, plus commissions.

I usually leave my holidays until the end of the finacial year for the company I work for, due to lack of work etc and the economic downturn we have been on half pay and day since the first week so after working for a full week and then the three weeks I have left - I'm off for possibly another two weeks after this one and last weeks - yipee.

Just in case it snows  :} , so doing some 'building'.

Not really because LB and I have skills and experience that young people don't have. I am currently writing an article for one of the magazines which draws on 50 years interest in Naval History. You can't pick something like that up out of school so us oldies are unique marketable commodities!

And I myself have a number of years in the Merchant Navy, 18 to be precise ,and a lot of Steam time plus total Voyages ,around the World 3 times ,quite a few fellas on here could give a lot to those who have no knowledge ,the New Museum at the P/head shows a lot and is really worth a visit ,down at the p /head on a nice day like today ,some good sights ,and then you get in the Museum for free quite interesting and the Albion house is being aired at the end of month .good stuff .

:D  as someone asked what people were doing - thought I would fill some time in yesterday - its getting busy again with some excellent builds  :-)) , so who's doing what ?, is it still to cold to sail (though it appears not cold enough to get rid of the canadian geese  >>:-( )

Stealing jobs was tongue in cheek lads.
At least us oldies can get out of bed in
the morning albeit creakily, and have the
motivation to do a job of work.
Colin is quite right, oldies have marketable
skills that a year apprenticeship will never
get near.

Ned (5 year RN apprenticeship)

Was asked yesterday if I would stay on for twelve months when this contract is due ('yer I've heard that one before as well) to be completed. I eventually said OK but, as I will be 67 by then enough would be enough and I would finish completely. The up side though is that I will have enough to restore my TR6, begin my travels around the globe photographing all and sundry, so watch out Oz and NZ I'm coming back!

I for one have moved away slightly from model boats due to, a job change and other projects like a 1954 Albion Lorry, doing this for my companies charity. I still come on here to see what's going on and give some advise, I am also helping to organise the Mayhem Weekend, but the building has slowed down a lot.

I think as your life moves along other things become a priority, health, wife's health and granddaughter, I still want a hobby to chill out on after a stressful day, but not too fussed if things do not happen as quickly as they used to. I might have a new boat for the Mayhem Weekend and I might not.
