My royal soveriegn
« on: February 21, 2014, 09:02:18 am »

Well biting the bullet and posting this  :embarrassed:  - Royal Soveriegn - a conversion of an Airfix HMS Victory 1:180 scale, it floats and has been on water, but not with the latest sailboard (except the bath).

The for and main masts are operated together through a std servo, it has a rudder and prop though this did not give and help last time so will see if it has improved since.

All masts and some parts are in brass to help with strength or to prevent out crops from breaking off.

Apologies for the quality of the photos as they were taken via my phone.  >>:-(

And the crew - doffed cap to John W Reid for inspiration from his recent thread of crew aboard a man of war  :-)) .

I scratch built the crew (dont know what scale the n guage figures are - but certainly not naval of this era) - more lego looking.

crew up front with a bosun heading forward and a marine walking about, cleaning crew at main mast has one on his knees, two stood about, one with a mop and a bosun keeping an eye on them, the nearest marine is at the top of the stairs, captain forward of the binnacle and a crew man, manning the wheel though the orlop hides most of him, the white stripe to the left is his leg. There is an officer walking back to the orlop and also on the poop deck making his way to the marines who unlike Johns crew are still not ready.

Again apologies for the quality

Looks good mate. You do need a camera with a macro lens for that detail though, can't wait to see some more pics.

@Warspite:
Depending on the type of phone you have (assuming it may be a smartphone of some sort), there may be some apps or accessories that will help with photography.

For example, macro lenses are available via eBay for the iPhone, cheap as chips. Such as this:
