Hi folks

Have you searched high and low to find a simple well made protective transmitter cover for when out in the elements when it is raining?

I have seen a few in use but most of them seem too bulky and cumbersome in use. Too difficult to get your hands inside, and loss of feeling of the controls etc.

I had delivered from a UK company this transmitter cover. It ticks all of the right boxes for me. It is light weight and not at all cumbersome. It is very easy to get your hands inside. It has a large transparent window to see the controls. It has only one small hole for the antenna so should prove very resistant to water getting inside when it is persisting down with rain :D

The stitching of the seams is excellent quality - it feels like it is made to last. I am so impressed with the quality of this cover that I thought it only right to share it with you. :-))

I have added some approximate dimensions to the photo below in case you are wondering if it might be ideal for you:

Cheers
Craig

Nice one Mark!
Hey but on a serious note, how often do we see folks using such bodges when it is hissing down, to protect transmitters that cost a lot of money which are controlling models that cost hundreds if not several thousand pounds?

Hi Mike

I too looked at the deluxe mitt and it too looks very well made. It looks especially good for those that like to wear a neck strap to support the transmitter. And it comes with the fleecy lining for keeping hands warm. Personally I would never use a neck strap on a transmitter so for that reason I figured that the light weight less expensive version ticked all of the key boxes for me.

On the subject of neck straps:

Are they a good idea or an Achilles heel?

I recently bought an expensive camera. I will never use the a neck strap for a camera in future. I have never dropped a transmitter or a camera. The reason why I had to replace my previous camera was that I caught the neck strap while the camera was on the kitchen work top. The camera hit the quarry tiles and became history in an instant.

Food for thought perhaps?

Craig :-)

Hi Craig
I'm more for the strap on the Tx myself, just to take the weight every so often so one can have a good scratch or whatever ! Tend to agree with you with a camera though, if the strap isn't trying to lasso everything near then it is getting into shot in front of the lense !
I'm assuming that the lightweight unit can be hung from the eye below the window as per their advert ?

Hi mike

Yes the eye below the window allows for attachment of a strap if preferred.

The base of this cover also has two eyes. They are for easy opening of the Velcro prior to placing your transmitter inside.

i never use a transmitter without a neck strap , saves it getting dropped ,also allows me to let go of the tx when i need to recover the boat for adjustments etc

Hi Jon, did you get the sheeting sorted out ? I posted a reply in the other topic.
That's what I meant I suppose by 'whatever' besides scratching !

Hi Craig
My cover arrived this morning, pretty good service - ordered it online Wed afternoon and here Fri morning. Certainly does the business with more than enough room inside for the Tx, now just have to wait for a rainy day ! Must do something about my sense of humour  %%

Thanks for the heads up

Hi Mike

I am delighted to hear that you seem as happy as I was with your new purchase. When giving genuine heart felt recommendations as I have within this topic, there is always an element of apprehension. The last thing I would want is to recommend something new and find out that good folks like you buy it and end up disappointed.

There is one special aspect of the products from this company that has personally delighted me tonight....>

It is that I have had confirmation from them that these covers are in fact made in the UK in their very own factory.

That for me makes the product rather more special. It is nice to own a quality product that is made locally as opposed to being a cheap import as is so often the case these days.

Being UK borne and bred, I will always support UK manufacturers.

Craig :-))

Oh... for God's sake, please don't wish for any more rain.... :((
