Welcome to mayhem.  We hope you enjoy your stay with us.

We have very knowledgeable members who can answer questions on most subjects.  But first they have to know the subject.       {-) {-) {-)

Cheers

Well Ken initially I have bought three old boats and would like to run them off the same controller. I'm a complete novice so would like the simplest way but with no interference or faffing about. I was looking at a spectrum x6i ? But is this a crystal type or can I bind it?

Thanks Rick

Welcome to the madhouse so to speak Don't forget the silliest question that you think of has probably been asked by someone already !!!!!!!!

Right with regards to your question yes it could be done...All you would need is 3 receivers bind them all to the transmitter and you will be in Business.

Personally I would use a planet system far cheaper and just as good...Give Mark a ring at A Model World he will sort you out

the dx6i is a 2.4 ghz system so you can run up to i think 10 models on it.you will need extra receivers to this and they will need binding to the handset in each different model if that makes sense at all,the bind process is easy enough to do,and running the 2.4 ghz means interferance free sailing, hope this helps

Hi Rick  :-))

Warrington  :-)) Have you checked out your local Boat Club  :}  Runcorn & District SMB a lot of members are from the Warrington and surrounding area.  (Website link at the bottom of my post)

Spectrum x6i as far as I am aware is 2.4 digital, so either just get a couple of receivers or just swop the one, I do both.. with a much more Basic Controller.

There is also a big show on this weekend at the Ellesmere Port Boat museum..   there will be plenty of advice there..

Hi Rick,

here is a link to some pictures from Last years show at Ellesmere Port

http://www.runcornmodelboats.co.uk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=11

Runcorn will be there so hope to meet you if you area able to go, most members will be there this Weekend as well as a few of the other local clubs, St Helens, New Brighton, Wallasey, Southport and Liverpool, obviously  quite a few others will be there as well.

As regards radios , as Stavros says, Cheap can be good, I use a Radio Link, similar to a Planet, I have not lost the signal yet in our lake or others, In fact had my club 500 running in Coniston last year and could barely see the boat in the distance before turning it around and bringing it back..

We'll thank you all very much....

I did pop along to Runcorn last Sunday and they were very welcoming so I will be joining alas I can't make Ellesmere Port this weekend as I have a prior engagement at Wembley but I will be there next Sunday for more brain picking.

I am in a bit of a whirl trying to make head and tail of servos and transmitters plus I'm a DIY disaster so a bit reticent to take my boats to bits!!!

I have managed to buy two yachts and one push tug motor boat all of which need various repairs to make them fully serviceable but I am hoping that it might get the youngest lad off his xbox and into the fresh air a bit.

Once again many thanks to those of you who took the time to say hi

If you came direct to the forum, you might not have found the original part of the site - http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/
On the menu on the left of the page is "Technical Stuff".  A good read there might help.
