Today we saw Educating Rita the play on stage at Bradford Alhambra.
Really enjoyed it! lots of laughs as well as the lump in throat parts.
How a cast of two remember all those lines is astonishing

Absolutely love that film.  I would never have known what "assonance" was otherwise!  I heard it made a good play also.

My Mother and Brother saw "Local Hero" play last week.  Shocking I can't remember much of the the film now -I should working in the industry and (supposedley) the setting though it was filmed near Aberdeen, rather than the purported location.  She said that was a good night also.

I saw "The Lady Vanishes" play a couple of weeks ago -apparently the cast was full of well known actors though I only knew "Gus" from "Drop The Dead Donkey", who was part of the MacGuffin I think.  Was quite a decent rendition -worth seeing if you get the chance

Just back from watching blood brothers at Leeds Grand Theatre
Awesome performance from Linzi Hateley. Her final song had me in tears and I’m now struggling to drink my Peroni at the Town Hall Tavern <:(   {-)

If you've any interest in North Sea working vessels, I can highly recommend Last Breath (it's currently on the iplayer) about a near-fatal diving incident in 2012.

The risks!

Ugh. I'm staying on shore.

We were diving at the time Bibby had that accident (different company and field). I'd be interested in the content when I can get to see it.  See how much artistic licence they've used.

Elton John was well worth a watch  :-))  Very clever screen play and a story well told. Fantasic music and dancing too

Godzilla.   No.  Don't do it.  It's dreadful in ways I had never considered before.   Annoying kid doing stupid things, people making unbelievable decisions, pointless self-sacrificing, CGI-fight-fest going on, and on, and on, and on..............I fell asleep about 2/3rds in for about 20 mins - didn't miss a thing.    It's sooooo bad.

God knows who taught him how to land but absolutely rubbish. That's the French for you unless he's just an idiot  {-)

He's getting twists in his rigging because no one has taught him to be compact on exit. Anything like a loose hand arm or elbow will pivot you in the slipstream. Bad instructors

.... again not a film, but just finish watching the new Chernobyl series, very well done and technical information was easy to understand, having not enjoyed Physics, ever, but still quite good. Now looking forward to D-Day with John Wayne and the all star cast, always liked that film and swmbo is recuperating from surgery upstairs.

I thought the Chernobyl series was brilliantly done - and I've been in the nuclear industry for 20 years.   i even like that 1980s green tinge to the visuals - all the details were very well done.  :-))

These seem to get more and more CGI and less and less story line 6/10

Andy
....Just back in the UK tonight and immediately looked for it.  Been watching parts.  I skipped bits which were a bit like another day back on the boat.  I feel a bit uncomfortable about it, a bit like many can't watch the Piper Alpha footage.  I was only directly involved in the sat diving game for a few years (right when this happened), but in the relatively unique position I had as a non-diver, I have had a a bit too much exposure from all sides to say what I think.  It was not a good time for that particular company if I recall though.  We also had some Hi-Po incidents, directly or indirectly from others actions.  You might also know of a Discovery / Quest programme of the Scandi Arctic -I would treat that with a pinch (20kg sack) of salt also, she was thrown off the field apparently due to freak weather while we were diving OK on our 30 year old boat about 1 mile away.

What I can say is the Dive Supervisors and Shift Supervisors, half the divers on our boat at the time and the OM were well time served, even one of the LST's and SS's went back to the Hydrox diving experiments, the other half going back to Seabex 1 and Uncle John days, lots and lots of accidents before social media and TV films.  Even those guys said at the time it was an absolute miracle even with SLS how he got away with that one.  I can't repeat other comments.

I can't detract that from him. Tough hardy "bas****"!  I really don't understand divers though.  It was lottery money back in the day.  I've crawled through bells, trunkings and chambers when they're on the surface.  It's still good money but "bug***" that for a life choice!!!  The dive system in that movie looked big compared to ours.

Sat diving is such a ridiculously difficult and stressful thing to be involved with for all parties.  It's difficult to explain to outsiders, I'll leave it at that.

I might get through the rest of it in the next week or so.

Just seen Anna.   It's a cross between Suicide Blonde and Red Sparrow.     Slightly annoying to watch with its jerky backward/forward timeline.   Luc Besson is losing his touch.  :((
