Charger for Etronix Pulse Transmitters
« on: March 07, 2014, 09:57:28 pm »

I have two Etronix Pulse Transmitters 2.4ghz which have the connection to charge the rechargeable batteries - rather than take the batteries out and recharge is it possible to find a charger for these transmitters - DC 9.5 volts - 200mA and how effective is this method of charging and are there any drawbacks - there appears a number of suitable chargers available some with a multi plug capacity which might ensure I get the correct connector - any help would be appreciated  Stuart Hunkin

Most chargers will do the job.

The important thing is the polarity of the plug into it.  is it positive or negative.  ?

hunkin........the only polarity issue here is   >>:-(

1. is the centre conductor +....?
2. if so......the outer conductor is - ........

Typically Futuba components have a + centre conductor ........& JR Radio use a - centre conductor

You really need to check this with a multimeter...................Derek

Yes,  This vital.  I connected the wrong charger once and it melted the wires inside.  Many tears that day.

Thanks Ken and Derek - I had a feeling that it needed a little more care than just connecting an off the shelf charger - will get a friend to check the polarity before I attempt to charge batteries in situ - in the meantime will take out the rechargeables and deal with them in the usual way - again many thanks chaps  MBM as usual comes up trumps Stuart

There's often a little sign incorporated into the moulding near the charge socket. The only other variables are the diameter and length of the centre pole inside the socket (2.1mm or 2.5mm; short or long). Here's a key:
