Saro "Princess" Flying Boat
« on: March 08, 2014, 12:34:00 am »

Hi, As well as making boats I also like aircraft , heres one I made earlier.   It is  the Saro "PRINCESS", built  to 1/24scale, at 110inch wingspan, using blue foam, balsa, lite-ply and skinned with lightweight glass cloth.   She weighs 15lbs of which 2lbs is nose ballast.             Built using pre-production drawings, and many photographs, plus loads of info from the local workforce, she took nearly 2years to build ,with breaks for boat modelling.     I remember seeing the prototype taking off for her maiden flight,   a wonderful sight and sound!!!      As you can see,the model looks great in the air as well.   I must be  one of few people who can say they've had both hands on a Princess"s bottom and got away with it!!!       Regards Cherub4.
