"Gold" Anchor Cable ??????
« on: March 20, 2014, 10:31:58 pm »

I was about to start putting together the Anchor Windlass and pulled all the bits together and..... for reasons best know to the kit maker the Anchor Cable is "Gold" (or at least Gilt)........ Maybe it's a Spanish thing ???? .............. Now I have to admit that I've never been on a tug. But, I've spent most of my working life either on, maintaining or purchasing equipment for commercial and military ships......... and I have never once seen a "Gold" Anchor Cable......... Maybe the Sultan of Brunei or The king of Saudi Arabia has them on their yacht.......... But surely not on a Tug ???? ............ Anyway, I soaked it in bleach for an hour or two and all the gilt came off........ and now it's black. Job done. :-)) ....... Or have I made a big mistake ???? ........... Do tugs have "Gold" Anchor Cables ??? {:-{
