Hi, A few days ago I posted a question re: signal flags, What flags would be flown when my C.M.B. is in "Attack" mode; I asked if any "BUNTING-"xxxxx"" could advise ,thinking that some older members would be able to help. I am at loss to know why the second part of this R.N. Terminology was deleted,as it was not rude ,offensive ,derogatory or racial. For decades it has been an accepted phrase to describe R.N.signallers , for that is what they did , they TOSSED BUNTING !! I am aware that"T****R in todays language is used to describe some-one who is worse than useless , but NOT in the context of my question. That's it, rant over . WELL DONE, Martin and the rest of the crew for getting the Forum up and running again, My nails are growing back at last!! Regards,Cherub4,aka George

How pathetic is it that "they" are now trying to hijack children's rainbows.

All existing kid's story books with/about rainbows will need to be dumped.

Surely we are not going to allow that to happen.

Trying very hard to avoid it, old thing. I'd just not heard "rainbow" used in that context. Is nothing sacred?
I see that dear old crock Sir Elton and his toyboy are promising to marry "quietly". That will be that day. I'm off to polish the sequins on my best party frock just in case. I wonder if "Jezza" Clarkson has an invitation..................

They were flying rainbow flags from various "Public" buildings this weekend. I'm not anti, whatever floats yer boat, but I'm getting increasingly nurfed off with the drum bangers ramming their rights down my throat. Metaphorically speaking of course.

Absolutely. I have no problem with people being gay. I have a problem however with people who seem to feel the need to tell anyone who'll listen just how gay they are.

Yes, quite agree. Had one worked at a security firm I worked for, who promptly announced to all and sundry that he was gay, well, you can imagine it, 20 odd young lads, all into boxing and martial arts etc gave him such a dogs life I had to take several reports off of him when he complained about being ridiculed by 'the lads'. Best if he had kept his mouth shut methinks.

as far as the rainbow brigade goes... I have two son's one straight the other gay. but if I ask you to tell me which was which you would have a hard time, but trust me the gay one is a whole lot more "pc" incorrect than the straight one.

also not all gay people run around waving the flag!!!

. but he made me laugh the other day, when he told me Drag queens give gay's a bad name

I think you would have been better off talking to "the lads" about why what they were doing was wrong, as it was clearly upsetting the guy and that can not be seen as "banter"

A few years ago about 100yds from where I live a young man was strangled in the stair well of a block of flats,his only offence was that he was gay, homophobia is like all hate it leads to other discrimination which leads to a police state i.e. germany in the 1930s,so we must all learn to live together as all of us are different from one another,as we used say in the 1960s peace and love and little less hate,Ray.

Regarding Clarkson's racial "bridge" comment, if I remember correctly, our Services nickname (1950's to 1970's) for an Asian was "Slope head" and never "Slope".

Our term was definitive but the "new" term (if that is the case) is ambiguous.

Yarpie, From Afrikaans japie, or plaasjapie meaning farm-boy. 'Japie' or 'plaasjapie' is a term referring to a person that grew up on a farm and is not familiar with city life, naive, often unsophisticated. Not a derogatory term, but not too polite either.
