Norwich Submarine Weekend 2014
« on: April 01, 2014, 10:09:16 am »

Hi all, the dates are confirmed as July 26th & 27th July 2014

Same format as last year for those that attended, for those that have not been before, its a great event.
Jeff Granger will be OOD on the Saturday
I (Paul Cook) will be OOD on the Sunday unless nature has other plans as my wife is due to give birth to our second child on August 8th.

Hope to see you all there.

Hi Paul,

That's very good.  Good that you made it another full weekend.
You should have a good turnout - I know quite a few people have already booked accommodation etc.

Thanks to you and Jeff and everyone at Norwich MBC!

My mate Ian (from the Facebook page) is taking me up, he only lives a few minutes from me. I'm really looking forward to going, be nice to meet all the guys I don't know (only from forums and Facebook) and renew old friendships again.

Hopefully...see all you guys there on the Sunday!

Hi All, the weekend is on.
There's been a bit of a weed problem recently, it looks as though someone has tipped some fish pond fish into the pod with some weed called "MillFoy" is what im told. This was a while back, well guess what the hot weather has done!!
Its grown!!!

The club has been "physically" removing the weed from the pond, having made a few inspections, there are odd lumps and bits of it floating around that you can see easily, these of course can be removed.

Having dragged the pond yesterday with a rake, most of it seems to be on the very bottom in the sludge, the pool is 2.5 feet deep at the shallow (Clubhouse) end and 3 ft + at the deeper end.

The boats yesterday did not seem to suffer with any problems so we should be ok.
Just beware that it is there.

Hi All, the event is still on. The club has aquired a large net. The pond has been dragged this week and will be dragged again tomorrow.

Obviously , the club/we can try to remove as much as possible to remove what we can.

There may be the odd "clump" or strand floating around that if anyone sees can remove if easily accesible from the side of the pond, or we have waders in the clubhouse that a club member (probably me) will don for you!

I do hope that all goes well and there are no moans about weed, ive done what i can on the main Submarine forums to inform and pre warn people, but fro what i see and hear we should be ok.
