Ice cold in Alex
Kellys heroes
Ice station zebra ( cold war era does it count )

Empire Of The Sun was on telly again the other night.  Really moving.
Love the Welsh Lullaby theme 'Suo Gan', haunting melody.

Besides Zulu I have seen The Yangtze Incident  nearly as many times and enjoyed it just as much.
All the Chinese field gunners were trainees at HMS Ganges and it was filmed on the river nearby.

I'm not sure Sandpebbles was a good war film but it was my favourite Steve Mcqueen film even
better than Great Escape

John,
Have you seen it?? it is the film written, directed and staring Paul Gross? (the Mountie for the TV series Due south)

I can't describe it, there are no words to describe the horrendousness of this film, it lasts for about 2hours and only the first and last 10/15minutes are bearable, the rest is a dire love story.
In fact my mother, who hates war films and loves her mills and boon books thought it was really good  >>:-( >>:-( >>:-(
not an endorsement of a war film is it  :o :o

So in a nutshell, if there had to be a clear winner - it is looking like ............?  {:-{

Seems kelly heros gets a good mention, but not the winner, for a clear war film - with realism and acuracy i nominate Saving private ryan with cruel sea second or the other similar film with noel coward, before kellys.
