G'day
I am a new "MBH" member having returned to model boating as my sons' interest in modelling has started.
I had a few very simple steam boats of the 'modeen' type (River Queen I think) and some similar mamod oscillating marine engines in ply hulls (the hulls did not stand the 30y intergenerational gap but have been replicated using the originals as templates)
The boys very much enjoy the boats puttling about on the garden pond.
Amongst the model boating bits and pieces is a part-finished bread-and-butted construction tug "Blazer" that was an over-ambitious year 8 woodwork project. I have now got an "arbortech" attachment for a small grinder that has allowed me to achieve in an afternoon what my 13yo self did in a term with a chisel.
I have a set of 10V castings to power the boat and my stock dept has a nice length of 4" 14G pipe for a scotch boiler at 85psi (I have the AMBSC codes and have spoken to my local club inspector).
Also in the time capsule is a Stuart Sirius that was the year 9 metalwork project - happily complete but only ever run on compressed air. I am thinking about flash steam options for that.
With my non-boating projects, family and work, I will now need to live to age 308 to complete them!!
