and this!

https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=542863.msg3857109#msg3857109

About 4th post down from one of the devs:

well, the wysiwyg is know to have a number of bugs.So much so that we have replaced it completely in 2.1

basically the WYSIWYG editor has lots of bugs, but fixed in smf version 2.01, your forum is running 2.0. The dev says to disable to WYSIWYG editor, then update to 2.01 when its released (its released now but BETA) so i wouldn't recommend as you will prob have more issues with the BETA version! lol :(

Unfortunately the post editor / WYSIWYG  editor are core parts of the Forum and I don't know to re-upload just those parts separately... nor the overall effect it could have on everything else.

Strange it only seems to effect certain posters / posts... it's not consistent at all.  {:-{

NB: 2.1 hasn't been release yet. We're on 2.0.15 designated stable.

its prob only effecting those of us that toggle the view or have the default set on the WYSIWYG editor as that's what the cause is :)

when you installed the forum, did you do it via your hosting control panel, or did you download the files from the SMF website & upload them yourself ?

Download a self executable installer via cPanel.

SMF is a very old package by modern standards, nothing fancy, not many bells & whistles, but infinitely configurable & free - which is good & bad for exactly the same reasons!  {:-{

ok, if it was me, id prob try re-installing the forum using the zip file from the smf website to be sure that all the files are the most recent but to do this you will need to upload via FTP & you would also need to setup a MySQL database for it, so I wouldn't recommend it if your not sure how as you would also want to backup & then import the forum data or you would lose everything! :(

Other than that, I'd prob do what the dev said, disable the wysiwyg editor (even if only for a few days to see if the problem goes or still persists) then when v2.1 is released, just update to that :)

tizdaz,

When you experience this problem are you creating your post text in another application offline - Word etc. and then pasting the text into the Mayhem web forum "Post Reply" box?

Text is fine on just plain posts (no images). Text before images is fine, text after images have been added via the new mayhem gizmo thingy are really small (think 2 comes to mind). Go back in, highlight small text and increase font size, annoying but not the end of the world.
This is done using android smart phone, not used pc to post in ages.

Wasn't it Doug and Dinsdale, the Piranha brothers? "He nailed my 'ead to the floor". I think Dinsdale had a pet hedgehog called Spiny Norman.
Why does my brain waste space remembering stuff like this and yet forgetting where I've I put my wallet?

Thanks for that, mate. I'm glad I wasn't getting my Python in a twist - and I've found my wallet, too!
