Is anyone else getting "internal server error" in times new roman text when navigating the forum?  I've been getting it for a month or more now -happens across three computers, two laptops (one win 10, the other 8.1), desktop PC runs win 10.  I only use Firefox as a web browser and it's all up to date.  I'd say I get the message 1/5 to 1/10 times browsing posts -logged in or not?  I don't get it on my android phone on wi-fi but it fails to load sometimes which I guess is the same thing.

Yes Rich............top left hand side of the screen.................page is totally blank apart from the simple text

Simply close & re-opening the page usually resolves the issue...happens maybe once or twice a week.........

Does anyone have an answer to the
Font resizer?
I don't mean how to fix it but how to
negate it.
Why does it happen?
Is there a way of stopping it happening
in the first place.
Are we doing something wrong.
Fixing it after it happens is a bit of
bolting horse and stable door.
It's getting a bit annoying.

Ned,

Personally I compose my forum posting text in MS Word, 12 pt Arial.
When I have it worded how I want, and spell checked it, I simply copy/paste it into the Mayhem Posting box.
Never had any font resizing problems.

I even type in my own bold / italic tags whilst in word.

I appreciate that Bob, but this is something new
to Mayhem.
Using Word is a tool to use when you have time.
I like to answer a post when I'm out and about
using my phone, and I have only had this problem
just recently
Just like to know what is making it happen.

No Answer to the Font issue as yet..... don't hold your breath either!
( I think it's something to do with browser / html updates etc. but no one has a definite answer at the moment )

Try using the the WYSIWYG option before posting.

Click on the       icon when typing,  it alternates between text mode and WYSIWYG.

Fair enough Ned.  I only use my desktop PC to access Mayhem.
Frankly text on mobiles is so tiny to see it makes them impractical for internet IMHO.

I have been getting some weirdoes . Typing a reply, for no reason the text suddenly did a downshift to the line below , and when I did a backspace to put it back in line the font had gone to small and I had to manually change it back to 10pt. Also lots of code keep appearing which I have to correct which was not on my reply

Could all these issues with use of mobiles on the forum, be due to the fact that the so called apps are cut down programmes designed to run only on mobiles and tablets.(touch screen)

In other words using your desk top engages the full function programme and not an app.

So it would seem it is not a forum issue but an individual's equipment issue. Why the sudden change, updates to your apps??

Possible Yes/No?????

 SMF, the Forum software is not exactly 'cutting edge' software  nor a 'hold the front page'  updates schedule ....  {:-{

Personally I've never had a problem with weird font sizes (possibly because I use a laptop / PC?) but the internal server error message persists regularly.

A different forum I was on used SMF and they kept upgrading, every upgrade got more "bugs".  For me anyway, access kept getting worse -they also went for a "mobile view" as default on tablets / phones which is just awful and off-putting to the point I just abandoned it.  Please don't go down this route if you upgrade the software!

Jaymac,
The text you posted has several html tags that have defined how the text is displayed - e.g. font size 4

What/where was the source text copied from (an email?) and in what software was it displayed when it was copied (MS Outlook etc)?

Below the pasted text - I have inserted spaces so the text shows without the html tags overtaking the formatting, the html tags presumably where formatting the text at the source?

The reference to the font  "wf_SegoeUI" suggests of Microsoft something (possibly Windows 8 at a wild guess)....

Am i correct in my understanding - you copy some text from the forum webpage and then paste it into a post-reply - is that correct?

What was the email being viewed in when you copied the text?

What web browser do you use?

It also does it on my PC and I am running Safari on MacOS High Sierra. So it can be concluded that the problem does not relate to our devices or software but gremlins in the platform software

Hi Baldrick,  You may be correct...

I don't understand how html tags are inserted in such an intricate way to "plain text" from the clipboard as it's pasted into a forum post - will be interesting to see if the cause can be identified

Logic would suggest that the html tags exist in the text that's been copied and about to be pasted but user reports suggest this is not the case

One way to unravel the story a little more would be to paste the same text that causes issues in Mayhem into a "basic" text editor like Windows Notepad - if the html tags appear in the pasted text then the source was the original copied text...
