Just typical!  You go out for a bit of fun and then a bloke comes by and chats up your wife.

Evening all!   :-)

Sorry about that, I needed to install a couple of s/w patches earlier today, which required a server restart.....
..... which logs everyone out!

Hi, as per post on film club...
"Hi Martin,  how come every time I "quote" you it is impossible to exclude my reply mixed-in with your original post under the "blue bubble" quotation.  It's not the same when quoting other posts?  If I copy and paste your words It's OK but if I forget and just hit "quote" then the reply just gets mixed in."

On the subject of forum funds:  I was trying to find a recent comment saying to use the forum for picture uploads because it is "free".  I'm sure we all agree it's not for free -we chip in to try and cover costs to keep forum hosted.  I deliberately avoid uploading pics directly because I firmly believe forums are not pic hosting sites, it's good to have the facility but server capacity / bandwith for picture hosting shouldn't be the main thing.  Thats just my take I guess though.

I suggest that by 'free' this was meant in the same term as access to the NHS 'Free at point of use'. Some donate while others can't or don't but can still access it.

I reckon that this hosting facility levels the playing field (voluntarily) for people who want to host a number of images sufficient to put them above the arbitrary limits imposed by hosting sites for free accounts. I am not sure if any 'free hosting' platforms have limits to the number of pictures they allow for free, but the options are there to use if we do not want to host via the Forum host.

I would rather donate knowing that it helps provide a level for all to upload their pictures for their build logs etc than set a limit  and risk losing lots of useful and inspiring images.

Hearing Brian B describe a beautiful sculptured wooden hull sounds fab; but it looks even better  :}

Hello,

Would it be possible to allow for forum attachments in .stl ?  Not that it comes up too often but some of us do 3-D designing and printing and it might make it easier to offer assistance to share files on odd occasions.  I guess there would have to be a reasonable limit on file sizes though but Im talking about bits and bobs, fittings and brackets, not full boat designs!

Just an idea.

I didn't see this announced, but this is quite a significant change. Previously photos had to be sized at 500kb or less for upload. That has been upgraded to 10000KB - a massive 20x increase!

Help!  I am trying to post an update to a build log and doing what I normally do - type it up in Word then copy and paste into the Reply box.  When I Preview my post I get every line with a ..... annotation, front and back.  Why, but more to the point, how do I stop it?  It makes the post unreadable.  But if I type in directly like I am now, it doesn't happen - does it?

Confused of Hayling
