Again Great work Martin
But What causes the site to go down ? as I though DOS attacks were mainly against Organisations, why would Mayhem. Trawler photos be targeted..

Perhaps they practice their malicious behavior on "soft targets" before going for the "big boys" ?? - Just a thought... :police:

Yet again, any hackers caught should have a hand amputated, they then have one other chance.

You know those kids that push the button on the pedestrian crossing lights when they pass, with no intention of crossing. Most hackers are one of them with a computer.

Hack:  Hack as in someone hacking down a tree with a small axe, tiny hits but many many attempts!

Hacker: Someone who tries to gain access to someone else computer or more importantly access the information / data on that computer. It's mostly for commercial purposes, ie. force adverts, links, toolbars, redirect on your PC which takes you off to something they want your to see / buy.

Other types of Hack are straight criminal, ie. stealing data off your PC / Laptop, eg. bank or credit card details, passwords etc. They also want to put doggy programs on your PC where they can get your PC to do things that you don't want it to or even know about. eg. attack websites like Mayhem to see what information they can leech out, emails, telephone no etc - that why you see the moderators  remove those asap.

Hope that helps!  :-)

Some of us posters, who have come in from the cold (summers over folks) have had very busy lives that mean we have not been able to post for some time, projects have gone untouched, sorting out computers, running errands for swmbo etc. would hate if I had been deleted from this eccellent site, but those who register and do not post or log on again are those that could be 'cleaned', with the e-mail provided maybe a reminder to them that they are going to be deleted, though a large voltage spike to the spammers computer who attacked mayhem would not go amiss ok2

It is a pity that the Internet Providers are not doing much more about these pain in the
posterior pests, there must be a lots more that they could do to block them.  >:-o

It's still complicated though, especially if you are under attack from a bot net when there is no one address to block. There are indeed some really unpleasant people out there. A car forum I belonged to was trashed simply because somebody, somewhere* thought it would be fun.

Well, if you watch Wimbledon you can actually do that.  Although the spoilsports keep cutting it, so you have to start anew every day.
