NB:
The Forum will be taken off-line Sunday afternoon (Aug 16 2015) in loving memory of Maureen Millers, ( Wicksteed MBC )
Just a heartfelt thank you for the Tribute to Maureen on the website.
'During her short illness followed by the sudden passing ( on the day she was due to be discharged) I was overwhelmed by the number of emails I received from Mayhemers all over the UK, how my personal email address got out I don’t know and it’s of no consequence, they were all very welcome.
Apart from our dogs she only really had a few major interests in retirement, the house and garden and model boating, though she never had a boat of her own. The model boating interests were the Wicksteed club, as Secretary that consumed a lot of her time beavering away quietly in the background as they do in most clubs and Model Boat Mayhem. At the shows that we attended, as a club or as individuals, she would always promote Mayhem as a source of help and encouragement ( I know she thought Martin was cute and cuddly!) to newcomers to the hobby as well is signing up the unwary if they lived within reach of Wicksteed Park as club members.
Most of you who attended Mayhem at Wicksteed over the last 4/5 years will remember her running the tombola stall and for her the greatest accolade paid to her in all those years was this year 2015 when it was reported back to her that (I believe) it was one of the Scots lads had said that walking past the tombola tent was akin to being "mugged by Nora Batty", she just punched the air and shouted ‘YES’, I think she felt she had ’arrived’, notoriety was hers at last!
To all those that have contacted me please accept my thanks for you concern and kind thoughts.'
Paul.
