As Martin says, they have been lost. If it is anything important then repeat your post. Unfortunately these things happen.

Strange thing - these Forum crashes are occurring only on days when I don't log in. Coincidence? ok2

It appears that in one instance the entire thread has been lost.

 http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=50133.new;topicseen#new

Could it be a new way of moderating eg sorry your post/s have been lost O0 O0 {-) {-) {-)

What that IT person saying, back up the back up with a back up and make sure it is backed up %% %% %%

Lost me a long time ago. Ah the simplicity of computing.

Later, been to another thread and the last posting was 10 Feb so looks like more than one day has been lost, more like from the 10th onwards,

Hi,

The website was down yesterday, 13 02 15 but back today 14 02 15 here in Oz.

I do like the email that arrived to let me know the site had returned.

Backup runs automatically every 24 hours.
 There another underlying issue that we've yet to resolve but at least I now know how to avoid this problem....  {:-{

Well, there's a first, a few minutes ago I was looking at a thread on RCGroups and it suddenly flipped to "error 500".  Yesterday another site I look at regularly (majorgeeks) fell over.  Even the mighty can be afflicted.  I wonder if "they" are conspiring?

Is it just me or does "search" only give 2006-2007 results for everyone?

No, used raw it does seem to prefer older posts. Somewhere, probably in 'Advanced' (I haven't done a search for a while), I think there is an option for the 'last nnn days' which helps.

There is something very odd.

Searching for the term "thruster" as an example.

If I put "thruster" into the box top right I get 20 hits all 2006-2007
If I put "thruster" into the search icon as suggested by Martin at the default 730 days I get 20 hits April 2013 on.
If I put "thruster" into the Martin box with the oldest set at 2000 days I still get 20 hits but now around 2009.
If I put "thruster" into the Martin box with the oldest set at 9730 days I get the same 20 hits that I got when using the search box page top right.

My conclusion is that I get the oldest 20 hits from whatever date I allow as the oldest post. There is no way that I can get more than 20 returns.   <:(  This did not use to be the case.

PS Roadrunners using the search facility sticky is well out of date.

I get frustrated with a lot of forum search engines and sometimes resort to Google's 'site' search.
For example:
site:http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/ "thruster"
is roughly equivalent to your search above. Note there is a space between the website URL (here ending in forum/) and the terms you want to look for.
But Google gives you some extra power:
site:http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/ "thruster" -"bow"
excludes 'bow' from the search, or:
site:http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/ "Gry Maritha stern thruster"
searches for that exact phrase. (It can't find that but offers suggestions which may be useful.)
If you omit the " " then it will look less specifically.
There is probably more help and functions available online, but this has met my needs so far.

That is useful & I hadn't heard of it but you would have thought that with all these options for "search" in the forum that there would be one that worked well - or was within my mental capacity to work out.
