Don't know how to do that, cannot seem to find the 'don't let others see your email' only 'let other members email you' if that is it how do others send a message - by using the topic thread asking them to pm you, but if no one has there email available then how do you pm them.

Jaymac - are you able to see mine, if so how do you remove it, un-tick let other email you?

PM (Personal Message). Is a message service that is contained within a website. It allows members to contact each other.
To PM someone you click on their ID. This will open their profile page. In the right hand column of the table, there is an option to Send PM, click on this.
A dialogue/message box appears. It looks  similar to the message box if you are going to post. When you have finished, press the Send Message button.
You can if you like safely use this system to let others know your email if you want to communicate that way in future.

When you receive a message you will see a notification, as in the image below.

Hope this helps

You get an email notification if you have
enabled your address when a Pm arrives
as well as the notification on the forum.
If the member has an email icon, then, if you email
them your address is visible to that person.
Even if your email is not visible.

Very Strange.
Opening up the Forum home page today there was nothing in the dry dock section of the menu, it just was not there . After a few minutes confusion I realised the section banner was there so clicked on it and the content downloaded. Never done that before

These spammers seem quite determined this month & therefore very annoying!
I've upped the joiner's security questions and disabled email display.

Thanks to all that report spammers very quickly!   :-))

None of us are invisible we are all on google  so whatever we post is shown. Granted sometimes just a subject/ topic is enough

I did post a link for example but may have caused the party offence so removed

Hi,

Just wondering, I don't post very often but these days but I notice that when I post paragraphs I now have to introduce two character returns instead of one to separate them with the normal gap, otherwise the post appears with paragraphs all compessed together?  I don't remember it like this before, and never on any other forum in the past.

I may not get it 100% correct but do genuinely try and check posts for spelling, grammar, spacings and formatting before finalising, but I just wondered why the forum software consistently keeps on trying to remove the paragraphs now?

Cheers,

RichNB: 2 returns is sometimes not enough after previewing -randomly the software removes one line or more and I have to introduce up to 3 to get back to 1 gap again (just happened now, but randomly -not between each original double return break!).  AAARGH -last formatting worked-ish on preview but when I hit post, now it's all mashed up again and can't correct!

I Think the SMF software is getting very old & creaky now and updates are coming through ever slower....  {:-{

I am looking at other Forum s/w, can anyone personally recommend anything?

I think your problem would be in migrating existing data Martin. It could be a nightmare as fhe database structures will be different.

Carriage return / line feed issues
My text below - line 1&2 typed in WYSIWSG and line 3 & 4 having switched to other editor ( Hit the Red letter A far right of menu bar)
For some reason the html < BR > "line break" is being suppressed in WYSIWYG mode

To tired to read this - a job for tomorrow...

Having just looked at some of the SMF scripts I would suggest they are the cause - wonder if this fix (URL below) caused the problem - the date would be about right for when things went wrong

Is this the same issues as  the BB codes appearing  and wrong size fonts.... or is that unrelated?

a forum I am on uses invision community, its hosted on the cloud, and the costs are determined by the number of users online on a two day rolling average- we have the super 65 user package for $45 a month (which includes support) and our rolling 2 day average at the moment is about 27 users online at any one time.
https://invisioncommunity.com/buy
we have 8gb storage as part of the package, but host our photos and files on an outside server.
you can also self host using their forum software, but then you have to do a lot of the tweaking and development work yourself, when we lost our tech guru on the forum, we transferred to the cloud version, and running the forum is relatively pain free.
I am unsure about migrating over, we did that when we had our tech guru on hand, but I am sure you could ask the question of their sales team to see if that is a possibility.

The current s/w SMF, which is OK but the lack of true image management is becoming a very annoying issue now, and SMF are releasing fewer and fewer updates every year.....    >:-o

Why are ""Racing" Mini Tugs" and "New Small Tug Build" both appearing in the new posts list when they both take you to the same discussion. Surely a single thread should be known by a single name?

Has Mayhem been down today?

Excuse 6.3.1
I run a full Mayhem server backup last night .... 16+ Giggle bytes... yes 16.3Gb..... count them!
Anyway it creates a 16Gb.Gz (compressed) file on the server which you then download via SFTP, but the generated file doubles the disk space in use..... obviously!   This overshot my server space limit - by about 40%,  causing the server to lock up... Mayhem stops responding

"Clean up on isle one please!"

All sorted now.   :-))

.....  Sorry for the delay, had to work today  .... sigh!  {:-{

 Mar'in

PS. Feeling the stress this weekend, have to go for an interview on Monday, for my own job! ... and we got a new FLM!   >:-o >:-o >:-o
