hi, i thought i would have a go at building a tug so i bought model boat magazine with the free plans...blew them up so the boats come out at 40 ish inches.....iv built it out of 1.5mm ply....iv got some very fine fibre glass matting...can i glass the outside of the hull and then get a smooth finish??

Oh yes you can. I did it in my Craig build, but it was very hard working, involving a lot of elbow grease, sanding away. That said, I am not very good at glassing, so had to correct my errors with sand paper.... :((

use glass fibre tissue and finishing resin. Adds strength and gives a lovely finish but takes a little work.
