what to do this bankholiday weekend
« on: April 30, 2014, 03:33:46 pm »

So whats everyone doing this probably rain free bankholiday  weekend?
I have managed to keep my SWMBO comitments down to Monday afternoon so Sunday looks like sailing day.
If I can get the Springer's play thing built (its a crane barge) and the weather is kind - new forced draught venting to keep the motor cool will let he rain in.
If the bits arrive to replace the mast in my Dragonforce 65 I might even get let out to play on Sat as  well :}
If the weather turns to the usual soggy mess then it will be building the crane part of the barge - if the bits arrive in time.

Despite all the unexpected people popping in and things SWMBO thought up to do at the last minute,  I managed to get my Dragonforce built and onto the water.
Had the whole lake to my self for an hour and a half before the dreaded pedlows started to fill the lake which at least made sailing exciting but called it a day after too many close calls

Cool.
I also got the bonus of going to the lake on the Yamaha and back via 30 miles of twisty Hampshire roads - only a slow ride as the boat was on the back but it was nice to be out before the usual Sunday road racers were out

Got a case for the boat, it's about four and a bit feet long and sits across the rear seat against the  top box. Helps that the bike is an adventure tourer so is a tadge huge anyway. Just have to remember that I can not filter like I normally do!

:-)) Managed to get some sailing in yesterday morning nice day but a bit cold, some really nice boats on display,I have noticed that a lot of boats are well built but my god the wiring so untidy, in fact some are a complete mess and these modellers wonder why they have problems, the excuse is "I do electric's",it does not take much time just to tidy it up and can save time at the lake, sorry just the rantings of an old retired electrician, have a nice day everybody,Ray. :-))

Great sail at the pond yesterday, nice weather, lots of boats and friends to chat with.  Problem is I'm paying for it today, SWMBO has me gardening and if there is anything I like less than gardening I can't think what it is...........

Managed an hour with my Marblehead then an hour with
the Dragon force. %%
Did my first rescue the is year with my Springer.
Nice new motorised barge lost its propeller.
 No locking nut.
Then a runaway tug a bit too  powerful to push
but a few nudges pointed to the side.
The owner had a Tx T5 with the top missing giving him
about  10 ft range!

He actually works tugs out of Felixtowe {-)

Mick,
Went to Abbey Hill on Saturday without seeing your post. My mate was showing his model steam engine and had spoken to you. We went to see you but you were engrossed with someone. We were really impressed by your boats and display; fantastic. I especially liked the (St Ives if memory serves) pulling boat.
Hope you enjoyed Yeovil.
