What is the purpose of Ferrite Rings on servo cables?

They are used to minimise radio frequency interference
picked up by the cable.
If all your leads are close together as in a submarine
pressure hull, they may be of use.
Modern gear is a bit rfi proof. Even twisted servo leads
help.
If you search on here for ferrite rings you can read all
the different opinions on the subject.
