Three Cunard Queens sailing in formation.
« on: May 08, 2014, 11:25:30 am »

Some very impressive photos of Cunard's three 'Queens' sailing from Lisbon to Southampton to celebrate QM2's 10th birthday.

Quite a sight!

The Cunard paint job does make the ships more impressive compared with the standard big white blocks although one could hardly call them graceful compared with the old time lines. Such is progress!

Painting the hulls black does cost Cunard a lot of money in increased air conditioning costs in hot climates but clearly they think it is worth it.

I have done a Transatlantic on QM2 and she is a fabulous ship inside. Must get round to building my Revell QM2 and motorising it!

Great photos, Colin, thanks for the link. I have seen all three Queens in Sydney at various times and have numerous photos, however, I still prefer the classic lines of the old QE2.

I was really hoping to go to Southampton and see them departing but I couldn't due to other commitments. I am going down this coming weekend though there is a couple of things I need to do down there...oh...and there's five ships in...  %)

 8) Very nice photographs, but I do not care what anyone says, they still look like blocks of flats.  The old Queens and the Empress boats looked like real ships unlike the present monstrosities, although I have to say that these three look better than the rest.

I agree, but we will just have to get used to it as this is the way cruise ships look nowadays. I may be biased, but I much prefer the colour scheme of the Cunard ships.
