Greetings from a new member
« on: June 15, 2014, 05:49:01 am »

Hello all,

I have recently rediscovered model boating, after taking about a 25 year break (school, job, marriage, kids, etc.).  My family have been extremely supportive.

I am currently scratch building a trawler style yacht, to my own design, incorporating design features from Grand Banks, Island Gypsy, Monk etc., either because they capture my eye, or seem like they would be easy to model.

Google led me to this site when searching for similar models, and joined the site to see the pictures of Peter Fitness' Grand Banks.  It is a beautiful build, and the article is well written.

I have been reading a lot of threads on here recently, the level of detail on some of these models is astounding.

Everyone seems very friendly and helpful on this site, and I can appreciate the fact that not every thread turns into a flame war.

Hello CyberBob and welcome to our little gathering.

We talk about almost anything and it's more a social club when we're not out sailing.   :-))

We like scratch builders and the ingenuity that they use so don't be shy.  Post some pictures as we'd love to see them.

As our leader Martin would say............... It's your round for the drinks.   {-)

Cheers

Mrs. CyberBOB was amazed with the level of documentation put into the builds shared here, and has volunteered to take pictures for me (she's the better photographer). Unfortunately I haven't taken any pictures yet, so you will only get to see this movie from intermission onwards.  Too bad I found this site part way through the build.  If we found this site first, we would have photographed all of the major steps.
