« on: June 16, 2014, 08:36:57 pm »

cordialement

A quick run through google translate brings us:

hello all,
I call Jacky, I am 61 years old and I am passionate hobby since childhood.
I made several steam locomotives 1/20th scale and also including a 7 cylinders star aircraft engines.
I am particularly interested in steam engines and I built a steamboat coal-fired.
I am looking for contacts to compare my results with other manufacturers which are very rare in FRANCE.
unfortunately I do not speak English, I use an automatic translator and I hope you understand.

I'm guessing google's mangling of "moteurs d'avions dont un 7 cylindres en étoile." Should be something about a 7 cylinder radial aero engine.

Gentlemen, we may well be in the presence of greatness!

Well on the continental could make the effort to translate.

But you too! It works both ways and to welcome a new it is nice.

It is what we are doing when a member of Mayhem comes to visit the French forum.

There is even a special comment for people of English language

Jacky masters perfectly the mechanics but does not master her computer.

A little of indulgence please

Problem is Most will not bother to translate, they will take one look at the post and move on and unless someone is willing to do this then despite what ever great knowledge is available it will be lost, by allowing posting in another language this will then open the doors for posts in all languages. a few opening posts fine but long term No, it needs to be in English as per the forum rules, bend this one and you might as well bin the Forum rule book.

C'est la vie  %)

Hello

Yes it is necessary to make the effort to translate, we make him(it) but we understand that members do not master it.

You should not fall on a new like that.

Jacky is very modest but it is the very big designer who makes share his knowledge.

And if somebody does not read its text, even not translated, it is pity for him.

We shall thus ask to Jacky to translate into Welsh language {-) O0

Why not just put your French (or other language) into google translate- then cut and paste the results on the forum? For the most part google does a good job of getting very close and most people would be able to read the results and understand the meaning. For myself even with only a few words of french understood most of what was posted by jacki241

Pourquoi ne pas simplement mettre votre français (ou autre langue) dans google translate-puis couper et coller les résultats sur le forum? Pour la plupart google fait un bon travail d'obtenir très près et la plupart des gens serait capable de lire les résultats et comprendre le sens. Pour moi, même avec seulement quelques mots de français compris plus de ce qui a été publié par jacki241

Hello! :-)
I do not use "tyranslators", but I should. %)
They are a good help.
Thanks for opening up your Forum to World Wide Steamers.
I feel confortable  here , and I have the oportunity to exchange with the nicest and most competent people. :-))
I did suggest to Jacky to come on Mayhem, as he is looking for steamers with experience in marine coal boiler, as  I know that some of you are practicing it. He would appreciate your help, for sure.

Concerning the translators, they will never replace the "open mind fellow". ok2
I know a friend of mine unable to speak his native language properly and he surprised that no translator works good.
{-)
Kind regards. ;)

That's where the translators fall down. It probably should have been (model) 'builders' rather than 'manufacturers'.
If you use a translator it's a good idea to note that this is the case so readers can make allowances.
Google to French:
Si vous utilisez un traducteur, c'est une bonne idée de noter que ce n'est le cas que les lecteurs puissent faire des allocations.
