soling 1mtr
« on: June 22, 2014, 08:46:25 pm »

have just started building a soling 1mtr and wondered what resin to use for the keel shot....the manufacturer says use polyester resin...various web sites say use west 105 resin with 206 hardener as the keel is styrene the heat build can cause distortion..another idea put forward is to use varnish and let it set...thoughts please...thank you.....tony

Nearly all resins heat up as they set.  The secret is to not use too much at one time. Add a little let it gel or set then add a little more.  Personally when putting resin near styrene I'd use a Polyurethane resin but would still add a little bit at a time.
