More Help Needed!
« on: June 28, 2014, 09:25:42 am »

Hi Folks,

Im now at the stage where im thinking of bow and stern winches for the FT-X. I wanted them to be fairly beefy and as im trying to improve my technical skill with this build, I am trying to design ways of doing things.

I have some simple drawings of the winch:

The central shaft is to be 8mm dia brass rod with turned bits at each end going down to 6mm dia to allow the pully and bearings.

Now, the first part of this is firstly how to cut the brass - i feel some sort of cnc is required to do it nice.

Secondly, assuming I have the brass all cut, the bearings (MR106ZZ) from http://www.motionco.co.uk/bearings-ball-bearings-c-28_43.html would need to be secured to both the main shaft and the upright supports - how is this done? both the bearings and brass are 3mm thick?

Thirdly, is there anyone on here who could achieve such a task?

Dan
