Cargo from Norway to UK
« on: July 08, 2014, 09:59:54 pm »

Hi all, Im thinking of buying a boeing 737 cockpit simulator. Its an absolute steal given what the guy wants for it and its too good to miss. The only issue is, its in Flemma in Norway!

It weighs about 300kg and measurements are 3.2m by 2.9 by 2.2 high. It will break down a little more...

Does anyone know anyone or shipping companies which could accommodate this or even anyone else who could help? I have a listing on Uship but no bids as yet. I appreciate its going to be an expensive job but its still half of what the thing cost to build.

I edited in a standard 20ft container dimensions.
Might not fit though the door. But if it breaks down a bit, then
I suppose would be just a matter of someone managing the move.

Yes very good Neil!

1 very careful owner :}

The car - I can afford to get it fixed yes, don't see why i should though given its someone elses fault...

The sim - a toy, but also all there to start a business renting it out to the computer simmers who want a go of the 'real thing'. with work it could be allowed for proper training but thats not of any interest.

I would rather build it myself but i have have 3000 hours nor the skill needed for it.

Hi  Dan

The easiest way, on the figures you've given , is probably to use a car and trailer.

You just fit the width requirement, for a car trailer, the other measurements are all acceptable.

Max width of overhang 2.9m without having to notify the police in each area you need to cross.

Where are the pneumatics and framework? Is 300kg the real weight of a simulator or just the cockpit 12" to the foot model??

good luck and enjoyment , if you get it!

found a company who will shove it on the back of an artic for £1800. best offer ive had.

It seems my dad who works on the Far Samson, has contacts in board who know the guy selling the sim. Lets just say enquiries are being made on the possibility of shoving on the back of a supply vessel and hauling it to aberdeen  :-X

im getting the thing either way....

Now on with the planning permission, curtilage of listed buildings and all that....

Be nice if you can lease time on it to pilots that need hours, then
it might just pay for itself. Don't for get to keep a log book on it's use, just
in case the transportation board think one of the users were suspect.  :-))
